Greg Oden has officially signed a sneaker and apparel deal with Nike Inc., the company announced on Friday; terms of the deal were not disclosed. Oden has previously signed a 3-year, $3 million contract with basketball card and memorabilia maker Topps Inc.
The Ohio State sports program is under the Nike label and Oden was pleased with the sneakers and apparel used during his one season at the university. He also noted how comfortable the clothing is off the court, as seen in the photo above.
Oden is expected to be chosen by the Portland TrailBlazers #1 overall in this week’s draft. It is a convenient team for Nike, who is based in nearby Beaverton, Oregon. Nike is an endorsement home to many great basketball players, ever since Michael Jordan revolutionized the idea. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Steve Nash and Carmelo Anthony are just a few who are under the Nike umbrella.
