Oswalt Named to All-Star Team

Roy Oswalt will replace the injured John Smoltz on the National League All-Star team, the league announced today. Oswalt was the sixth-highest vote getter for National League pitchers, which meant when the #5 pitcher went down, Oswalt was in.

Oswalt was also one of five players to be voted on by fans as the 25th member of the team; now, he doesn’t even have to wait for that. This will be his third All-Star game in a row, but he comes in with his worst statistics in that time; he currently has a 7-5 record, with a 3.52 ERA.
