Alex Rodriguez singled up the middle, scoring Johnny Damon, to collect his 100th RBI of the season in the Yankees 9-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Damon finished 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, a nice game for the struggling outfielder. Though he came from Boston, Damon had played six seasons in Kansas City after being their #1 draft pick in 1992.
Roger Clemens pitched seven innings for his 351st career win, giving up four hits and striking out three. Chien-Ming Wang takes the mound for the Yankees on Tuesday, looking for his 11th win of the season.
Alex Rodriguez has now knocked in at least 100 RBI in every season since 1998 and has hit at least 34 home runs in each of those seasons.
