Allan Ray Signs with Italian Club

Former Villanova stand-out Allan Ray agreed to a two year contract with Italian Serie A team Lottomatica Roma for $2 million, only days after being waived by the Boston Celtics. Ray, who was an undrafted free agent out after his four years in the Big East, will get a significant raise from his $687,456 salary he had in the NBA last season.

Lottomatica will play the Toronto Raptors on October 7th in Rome as part of NBA Europe Live, which will also see the Raptors take on Ray’s former team in the Italian capital.

Though he will be making significantly more money playing in Europe, I am disappointed that we will never get to see him play with Ray Allen at the same time. It was my draft-night highlight when Ray Allen was traded to Boston to be teamed up with Allan Ray. Unfortunately, my dream will not come true.
