Yankees Welcome News from Boston of Gagne Trade By Hitting Record 8 Home Runs

Hideki Matsui lead a home run barrage by hitting two home runs and the Yankees tied a franchise record by hitting 8 home runs in a 16-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. Bobby Abreu, Jorge Posada, Robinson Cano, Johnny Damon and Shelley Duncan also connected on home runs, but the one guy who the fans came to see couldn’t deliver.

Alex Rodriguez finished 0 for 5, but had two balls caught on the warning track. With hundreds of flash bulbs going off during every pitch, Rodriguez remained at 499 home runs for the fifth game in a row. He is now 0 for his last 15 since hitting his last home run.
