Yanks Win Again, Now 2 Back of Wild Card

The New York Yankees continued their home run barrage, connecting on five home runs, but again, the home run that everyone is waiting to see remained on hold. Jorge Posada homered twice, and Robinson Cano, Shelley Duncan and Derek Jeter all added shots as well, as the Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 8-1. With Cleveland’s loss to Texas, the Yankees are now just 2 games out of the Wild Card.

Alex Rodriguez continued to slump since hitting his 499th career home run and finished yesterday’s game 0 for 4. He is now 0 for his last 19.

As the Yankees keep winning, the Indians keep losing. Now losers of four straight, Cleveland is dangerously close to losing their stronghold on the Wild Card. However, the Yankees know that the Wild Card is not the ultimate goal. With the win, the Yankees stayed within 7 games of the Red Sox, with six more games remaining between the two clubs.
