The Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts were put to the test early for their quest for back-to-back championships this year, playing the inaugural game of the season against the New Orleans Saints last night. However, the Colts looked like they should have a fine time in their defense of last year’s championship as Peyton Manning threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Colts to a 41-10 victory.
It was a fantasy dream come true for owners of Colts players, as Manning distributed the ball evenly, passing to Reggie Wayne for 115 yards and two scores and Marvin Harrison for 83 and a touchdown. Joseph Addai, who has been picked before Manning rather consistently in fantasy drafts this year, rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy owners of Saints players were not so happy though. Drew Brees threw for 192 and 2 interceptions, Reggie Bush had 45 total yards and Deuce McCallister rushed for 38 yards on 10 carries. The Saints lone touchdown of the game came in the first quarter when Jason David stripped Reggie Wayne of the ball and ran it back 55 yards for the score.
