The New York Yankees won again last night, beating the Baltimore Orioles 12-0 in a classic AL East romp. Doug Mientkiewicz (yes, I had to look it up) hit a three run home run in the 4th inning and added another RBI in the 7th as the Yankees moved closer to the top of the AL East. Melky Cabrera added three RBI and Robinson Cano two more to help Mike Mussina move back to .500 with a record of 10-10. Mussina pitched seven strong innings, giving up three hits, walking one and striking out six.
Meanwhile, Eric Gagne walked in the go ahead run against the Toronto Blue Jays, who beat the Red Sox 4-3 last night, bringing the Yankees to within 2 1/2 games.
The Yankees have another game tonight against the Orioles before hosting the Blue Jays for four games. The Red Sox will travel from Boston to Tampa Bay for a three-game series before hosting Oakland at Fenway this weekend.
