Kevin Durant, widely heralded as the front-runner for Rookie of the Year honors this season, made his NBA debut last night against the Denver Nuggets in Colorado. Despite scoring 18 points, Durant was unable to lead his team to victory, falling to Allen Iverson and the Nuggets 120-103.
Durant shot 7-22 overall and 2-7 from three-point land. His five rebounds were a bit lower than people have been expecting, but the three steals was an added bonus. He was also 2-4 from the line, missing his first attempt at his inaugural NBA point.
Allen Iverson led the way for the Nuggets scoring 25 points, dishing out 14 assists, grabbing five rebounds and finishing with seven steals. Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 32 points.
The SuperSonics other top draft pick, Jeff Green from Georgetown, had a less than steller night, scoring five points in 18 minutes of play. He was 3-7 from the line and grabbed two rebounds.
