Kevin Durant scored 27 points on 11-23 shooting last night, but it was not enough to overcome the quick running Phoenix Suns in a 106-99 loss. Durant shot 2-6 from three point land and 3-4 from the line and even garnered some pretty good quotes from the Phoenix Suns, mainly Grant Hill and Raja Bell who were responsible for guarding him.
“He’s a long … ,” said Bell, with Shawn Marion adding “He’s a LONG guy,” later on. Marion added that it’s clear that Durant isn’t shy to take a shot or two saying “you shoot 23 times, you can get 27 points, easy.”
Fellow Sonics rookie Jeff Green had a tough night, shooting 3-12 in 21 minutes of play, scoring eight points overall. Chris Wilcox added 23 points and 11 rebounds for Seattle.
Three Suns players finished with double-doubles, including Amare Stoudemire, who had 23 points (on 20 shot attempts) and 11 rebounds, Shawn Marion with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Steve Nash, who finished with 18 points and 12 assists.
Seattle’s next game is November 4th at the Los Angeles Clippers.
