The New York Post is reporting that the New York Knicks are considering sending power forward Zach Randolph and another player to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Lines Kleiza, Eduardo Najara, Steven Hunter and J.R. Smith. It is believed that the Knicks are “most interested in up-and-comer Kleiza,” according to the daily paper.
Najara and Hunter are expiring contracts, which doesn’t fit into the Knicks mold of acquiring lesser-skilled players who have years left on their contracts, but J.R. Smith fits right into the shoot-first mentality of point guards the Knicks have been known to covet (see Jamal Crawford, Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, Steve Francis, Anfernee Hardaway).
Kleiza is a Lithuanian swingman who has shown an ability to shoot the three within the Nuggets offensive flow, which revolves around Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony. It would be interesting to see just how bad he becomes if he is actually traded to New York.
