Isiah To Return to Indiana?

Rumors have been spreading throughout the internet lately that Isiah Thomas could return to Indiana University as their next head coach if Kelvin Sampson is relieved of his duties in light of new recruiting violations. Thomas, who won a championship as a player at Indiana, refutes the possibility.

“No, I’m very anchored here [in New York],” he said. “It’s a tough thing that Coach Sampson and the university is going through. But I still support ’em. I support the university.”

Thomas has been an absolute disaster in New York since the moment he showed up, but maybe the college game would be good for him. He is a very relationship-based coach, which could be a positive factor in recruiting. Moving to college ball would also prohibit Thomas from messing up a salary cap, since players “do not get paid” on the college level.

At least one thing is clear: New Yorkers everywhere think Isiah should jump at the opportunity to return to Indiana.
